Calling all Scouts!

Scouts and Scouters from around the Western Region are invited to participate in this snow camp out adventure. Camp Chawanakee will be transformed into the Alaskan Yukon wilderness for you to explore. There you’ll need to work as a patrol while you voyage from town to town testing their scout skills, earn your fortune in gold and demonstrate that you are the best patrol around. Gear up for snow
You never quite know what to expect when it comes to the Klondike Derby. You will be camping in snowy and cold conditions, however if you spend the time to properly prepare you will find that the Klondike is a one of kind experience. Start planning today to get ready. We recommend each troop have a sled to help hike in your gear along the camp road. Sometimes though the trail gets thin so it would be a good idea to have the option to put some wheels on your sled if necessary. Don’t forget to have a practice camp out or two before to give your gear a proper shake down. If you don’t know what gear you need then we offer a Winter Awareness Meeting to help teach scouts what they need to be thinking about.
