Scouting leaders, parents, and stakeholders,
We continue to review recommendations from public health officials as we monitor the spread of COVID-19. We’re mindful of the role we play as Scouts to ‘be prepared’ and give leadership to others. As we evaluate this quickly evolving situation, we are relying on information and guidance from the California Department of Public Health (https://www.cdph.ca.gov/Programs/OPA/Pages/New-Release-2020.aspx), Centers for Disease Control (https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-nCoV/index.html), and local governments and public-school systems.
The following changes will be made immediately:
Scout Service Center
Through March 31st, the Fresno and Visalia Scout Service Centers will be closed to the public. Most employees will be working from home and available via telephone and email to provide customer service and support to our stakeholders, during this “Shelter Inside” phase of the Covid-19 Virus. A list of Sequoia staff phone and email contacts is located here.
Through March 31st, the Scout Shop and Trading Post in Fresno and Visalia will be closed to the public. During this two-week stretch, customers are encouraged to visit www.scoutshop.org for Supply needs.
We are postponing all currently scheduled training, activities, programs, and camps at the council and district levels through April 30. We will work quickly to determine when the rescheduled activities will occur, and if we are unable to reschedule postponed activities, we will refund registration fees that have already been paid.
At this time, Camp Chawanakee is expected to operate. Merit Badge registration will continue, see the Council website https://www.seqbsa.org/camp-chawanakee/class-signups/ for more news related to this.
