FDL.png New Scout Shop Store Manager

The Sequoia Council would like to welcome Jen Decker as the new Store Manager of the Fresno Scout Shop.

She started her career with the Boy Scouts of America in May of 2011 in Joplin, MO serving as the Store Manager of the local council store. In this role, she aided the Scouts of Joplin during the devastating tornado of 2011. After her successful service in Joplin, she was promoted to the position of Store Manager at the National Scout Shop in Little Rock, AK in June of 2013. Jen has been an active volunteer in the BSA since 2006. She has served as a Den Leader, Pack Committee Chair, and the Cubmaster. In her own words, she is “a testimony of the Scouting program and what the program does to help boys become awesome young men”. Jen is married to Adam Decker and together they are the proud parents of six boys. Their oldest two are Eagle Scouts, one is a Life Scout, one is a Star Scout, and two are in Cub Scouting.

Please join in welcoming Jen to the Sequoia Council!

FDL.png  Visalia Distinguished Citizens Dinner

Our friend Harry Tow has been chosen to receive the “Distinguished Citizen Award” by the Sequoia Council, Boy Scouts of America. He will be recognized at a special dinner on Thursday, October 22, 2015 at the Visalia Country Club.

The “Distinguished Citizen Award” dinner serves three purposes:

• To salute Harry for his dedicated service to the community and Scouting.

• To increase awareness of the role of Scouting in our community and its accomplishments in serving our youth, particularly in Kings and Tulare counties.

• To raise Scouting “growth dollars” to support outreach to at-risk youth.
