Sequoia E-News – Month of June 2014

ALL.jpg New Cabins

We are in the midst of building 11 cabins at Camp Chawanakee. We had two successful Saturdays in May where Scouts and leaders had a chance to help build cabins. This opportunity will continue through the summer. So if you are attending Camp as a leader and you have some free time and want to help, we need you. Scouts might also get a chance to help build during camp free time. Just touch base with Camp Director Jason Cruz. A generous donor has allowed us to print tee shirts that read “I helped build a cabin at Camp Chawanakee, BSA – 2014”. These will be given to all who help build a cabin. Beginning this fall cabins will be available for rent on weekends and school vacations.

ALL.jpg Scouts at Grizzlies

Over 350 Scouters attended this year’s “A Salute to Scouts Night” at Chukchansi Park. This was our largest attendance to date. Families enjoyed a night at the ballpark while the Fresno Grizzlies played the LA Dodgers AAA Albuquerque Isotopes. Our Scouts participated in the opening ceremonies and Scout Luke Dutcher, from Reedley Pack 28 threw out the first pitch. We also had boys from Clovis Pack 59 participate in the opening ceremony presenting the colors during the National Anthem. Thank you Fresno Grizzlies!
