Are
You Ready to Make History?

The Sequoia Council is recruiting youth members
for its National Jamboree Troop and Venture Patrol. Are you ready to
help make history? Join us as we travel in July 2013 to the Summit
Bechtel Reserve and take part in the first National Jamboree of the
second 100 years of Scouting in the United States. Boy Scouts (ages
12 -18) and Venture Crew members (open to coed youth ages 14-21)
will be lead by a team of fully trained leaders.
The Summit Bechtel Reserve is BSA’s newest high
adventure base and the permanent home of the National Jamboree. Ten
thousand acres of camp surrounded by 70,000 acres of National Park
land will offer world class rock climbing, mountain biking, and
rafting opportunities in West Virginia’s New River Gorge.
The 2013 Jamboree offers not just one, but 6
High Adventure Camps including; BMX, mountain biking, and
skateboarding; Challenge courses, canopy tours, and 6 miles of
ziplines; shooting sports; climbing; and a wide range of aquatics.
In addition participants will take part in a day of service, helping
to make our world a better place.
More changes are in store for this Jamboree.
Venture Crew members will be active participants, not just staff, at
the 2013 Jamboree. Special “Venture Only” high adventure activities
are planned for the male and female Venture Crew members. Venture
Patrols from throughout the US will be merged to form special
Jamboree Crews.
The Sequoia Council contingent plans to tour
historic locations prior to arrival at the National Jamboree.
Washington D.C., Philadelphia, Gettysburg, and other places will be
on the itinerary. Once on site at the Jamboree all equipment will be
on hand for the most fun filled camping experience of your life. All
that a participant needs to bring is clothing, personal items, and a
great attitude.
If you are ready to join us, please register at
WWW.BSAJAMBOREE.ORG. Online
registration must be completed and the additional paperwork and
initial deposit need to be in the hands of the Sequoia Council by
March 31, 2012. Prior to the Jamboree the contingent will have
monthly meetings and several planned outings. Let’s make some
history and shape the future of Scouting!
If you have any questions, please free to call
our Jamboree Ambassador, Mark Alson at (559)313-8190.
